Food sovereignty unites – supporting a globally just food system locally.
📆 30.01.2026 – 1.2.2026
🚩 Group accommodation near Giessen
By participating in WWOOFing, you support small-scale farming in Germany. But what does that mean in a broader, global context? Using the concept of food sovereignty, we’ll explore this question and meet between January 30th and February 1st, 2026, near Giessen and online. Here’s the program:
- Introduction: What does food sovereignty mean? (in person)
- Discussion about the challenges of ensuring regional food supply in the spirit of food sovereignty, followed by a cider/apple juice tasting with Streuobstfreunde Marburg e.V. (in person)
- Workshop by Julia Bar-Tal: Food sovereignty in times of crisis and war, using Syria as an example (Saturday, 4-6 pm, online via Zoom)
- Presentation of the work of the Berlin Food Council (Saturday, time to be announced, online via Zoom)
- Reflection: How can we integrate what we’ve learned into our volunteer work? (in person)
The online session is open to everyone. It will be held in spoken German. More information and registration details will be available here at wwoof.de/veranstaltungen and on Instagram.
The entire weekend will be attended by people who are already involved with WWOOF Germany e.V. or are interested in becoming involved. If you are interested in our organization’s work and the topic of food sovereignty and would like to participate, please contact laura@wwoof.de for registration details. Participation is free, and travel expenses will be reimbursed.
