We make our work transparent!

Transparency is important to us. Therefore, we joined the Initiative Transparente Zivilgesellschaft. We are committed to making the following ten pieces of information available to the public and keeping them up to date.

1. Name, registered office and year of foundation

In Germany, WWOOF was formed in the late 1980s, since 1992 as a registered non-profit association “Freiwillige Helfer/-innen auf ökologischen Höfen e.V. (WWOOF-Germany)”

Since then, the association has its residence in Pohlheim-Hausen (Hesse). The tax office responsible for us is thereby the tax office Gießen.

WWOOF-Germany is non-profit in the field of environmental protection and landscape conservation. Then as now, people learn with WWOOF by being active themselves and for a limited period of time becoming part of sustainable living concepts already practiced in everyday rural life. 3. Information about the tax benefit

Our work is exempt from corporate income tax under Section 5 (1) No. 9 of the German Corporate Income Tax Act and from trade tax under Section 3 No. 6 of the German Trade Tax Act, according to the latest exemption notice we received from the Gießen Tax Office dated November 08, 2023 (assessment period 2019 to 2021).

7. Information on the origin of funds

Since its foundation, the association has been financed by membership fees and, to a small extent, by donations. This has provided an annual budget of around 100,000 euros in each of the last 3 years.

8. Information on the use of funds

Salaries, online platform, Host liaison and events are usually the largest items in the use of funds. In 2020 and 2021, there were fewer events due to the pandemic and thus significantly lower expenditures for these. A breakdown of expenditures in 2022 can be found in the Financial Report 2022. The Report of 2023 follows as soon as the cash audit has been completed.

9. Affiliation with third parties under company law

WWOOF-Germany is a member of FOWO (the Federation Of WWOOF Organizations, see wwoof.net). The association thus sees itself as part of a worldwide movement, but remains an independent actor in Germany.

10. Names of persons whose annual payments account for more than 10% of the total annual budget

In the past three fiscal years, there have been no payments from individuals that would have represented more than 10% of the total annual budget.
